Programme Introduction
The BA (Hons) in International Hospitality and Tourism Management develops students for managerial positions in the hospitality, attractions and tourism industry, as well as to develop their communication skills.
Students will gain knowledge in areas such as Contemporary Challenges in Hospitality and Tourism, Exploring Strategy, Integrated Resorts Management, International Destination Management, New Enterprise Creation, People, Planet, Profit, and Honours Project.
Students will complete 8-weeks of supervisor and 6-weeks of manager training.
Upon completion of the Bachelor programme, students will be able to advance to Masters programmes.
Programme Objective
- To equip graduates with the managerial knowledge and skills, so that they can be effective and efficient managers to the industry.
- To develop in students a firm understanding of the roles and responsibilities of managerial functions in the organisation.
- To focus on analytical and evaluative skills, improve communication ability and work effectively as part of a team.
Modules
The module will explore contemporary thinking and literature in the field of strategic management, and will make use of examples and cases from a range of organisational and cultural contexts. The module aims to develop student understanding of the central role of strategic planning and decision making as the basis for creating added value for both the organisation and its customers. The module will focus upon strategy (and strategic thinking) as it applies to; purpose, direction, environment, choice, innovation, learning and change.

Each module is assessed by academic work comprising written assignments, case study reports, essays, examination as determined by the subject profile. The assessment criterion varies from module to module and level to level.

The curriculum is taught over 4 terms of 12 weeks each. Modules are conducted in formal instructor-led classrooms sessions. Each term will cover 2 modules with 6 contact hours per module; Lecture is a 3-hour session and Tutorial is a 3-hour session per week. Students will undergo supervisor and manager training alongside taught classes.
