Programme Introduction
Biomedical sciences is a dynamic and changing field because of the rapid advancement and unrelenting progress in science, medicine and healthcare. It applies biological science to medicine. The BSc (Hons) Medical Bioscience is a 18-month top-up degree programme designed by Aston University, one of the top universities in UK, and offered through the East Asia Institute of Management provides an academic progression pathway for Bio-medical and Life Sciences related diploma holders. It provides and equips students with the training and professional skills and technical knowledge necessary for suitable employment in biomedical science.
Biomedical scientists need to be knowledgeable, motivated and innovative. You will graduate from this course as a skilled scientist with these traits. A strong theme of professional development is central to your learning to enhance your growth as a scientist and improve your employability.
Academic content is provided by Aston University academics, and you will also be supported by tutors at EAIM. The course director on behalf of Aston University is Dr Stephane Gross, Lecturer in Cellular Biology.
Students with appropriate diploma qualifications will be entitled to exemptions, and enter the course at stage 2.
Modules
This module outlines the principles of homeostatic control mechanisms operating at molecular, cellular, tissue, organ and whole body levels. It also explains cellular homeostasis, nutrient and energy balance, thermoregulation and cardiovascular homeostasis. The module aims to investigate homeostatic principles applied to selected physiological systems, to illustrate mechanisms and processes through which the human body maintains the constancy of the internal environment.
